Subject: Cancer treatment
Hi Gents,
Whilst there has been some discussion re Cancer treatment for Vietnam Veterans I had the opportunity to try out the untried system last week for an old Navy mate of mine who has been diagnosed with bladder cancer.
DVA previously advised that all the action necessary for a Vietnam Vet suffering from Cancer is a letter from their Doctor (Urologist or Oncologist) that they have diagnosed Cancer, and upon the Vet making contact with DVA with this info they will issue a white card with no further option re a claim for the full cost of treatment for Cancer.
When I tried the system it took 2 days for the ex sailor to receive his white card.
You may wish to pass this info on which is further to my presentation on Cancer at the AGM which was unfortunately not recorded.
Kind Regards
Bill Kane

Windy,
This subject has been on other sites, and it is good to be mentioned here.
This is my reply to the post I have posted on others sites.
A timely reminder of DVA services.
Go to the DVA site
www.dva.gov.au click on forms, click numerical, look for form,
TL219.2 Application for Health Care in Respect of Cancer
(10:04 29-Jan-2004)
This form is completed to apply for health care in respect of cancer (Malignant Neoplasm)
Simple as that.!!
The comment "I had the opportunity to try out the untried system" is not quite right, as I have applied the system for a few years now with vets, Even ex service ladies who have breast cancers, etc, are able to use the "system"!! as some plotters can testify to.
I have had a lot of feedback from that post and am happy that the word is spreading, and vets are getting the treatment available.
Regards
Kippy
