Command Warrant Officer Bob Barb
I first met Bob when I think he was CDFs (General Cosgrove) cook as a PO. He has been in DSP/DSCM now for bloody years and they have made him a Command WO. We are like the Yanks with SWO (Ship's WO), CWO (Command WO), WO of the Navy (WO-N) & tier A to C WOs (that get different rates of Pay. Highest paid WO is the WO-N who is on a mere $110,131 per year!!!!!!! Bloody hell!!

Lindsay , got better than that as a Chef Supervisor on Bass strait oil rigs in 2002 and without the stress !! 'Course being a member of a union that had the power to turn off the gas / oil didn't hurt !!

Pussers is never going to compete with the Oil Rigs or the Mines but at long last the average AB is getting a good pay packet. For example in 1970 I was earning as a SMNWTR* $1,781 per year ($68.31 per fortnight) and I was saving money every fortnight!!!! How did we al do it!!

Most of us did'nt do it Lindsay, you must have been a loan shark :P

I remember LSCK Ned Milo (who is very different I give you that) bragging that he only spent $6 per fortnight in 73 at Tarangau. Needless to say he didn't drink or smoke.

I know plenty that bought and paid for their houses before thier engagement expired So the wages were good and the perks were there for us marriedys like cheap rent and furniture loans etc It all went pear shaped for the singlies when they bought in Rations and Quarters. Group pay that was another step backwards and bought a lot of disharmony in Pussers .
