Jobs for the boys . This post is directed to mainly our serving members . I Would like to solicit your help on this Molly To get the word around .
The cooks site has now in excess of 200 members with more joining each week as more people become computer literate .
This site is a valuable resource for all members and what I propose is that
we have a look at those cooks who are nearing the end of their engagements and try and help them to resettle back into society.
We have many ex cooks on here that are in managerial roles in the companies or organizations they are involved in .And i know i am not speaking out of turn when i say this.
One of the hardest tasks for managers is finding good reliable staff and having been a manager for most of the time while working in civvie street I found It hard.to find personell who shared the same work ethic as me.
Whether it be Navy Army Or Air force. Right from day one the the services instill in you A sense of pride in your work and a team ethic and mate ship unheralded in civilian life. I fitted into civvie life uncomfortably at first because I couldn't handle the pettiness that accompanies a lot of work issues .
I wont go into them but those that have served and have been out a while are well aware of them We could all write books .What i propose is that we have a Thread on here devoted for jobs for the boys .
This is not the politically correct way to do things Because of anti discrimination laws which state every one gets a fair go (YEAH RIGHT )
What i would like is for those that are considering pulling the pin is to join the cooks website .
Lets know your looking for work and the area you would like to work many ex pussers are in mining camps and in fact navy bases.our tentacles reach far and wide .
The navy training you have received sets you poles apart from your civilian counterparts Give me one good pussers cook that knows what way to hold a squeegee or broom and ill give you some one who is management material in civvie street many of us out here have proved that over the years.
I'm not for one moment saying just because you are an expusser That you will walk into management it works a little different than that. What I am saying is that a lot of ex servicemen are looked on favorably when applying for jobs especially if the person doing the interview Is ex service
He will have an intimate Knowledge of just what sacrifices you are prepared to make to see the task is completed to the very best of your ability.
Cliff will yo see this goes in the appropriate topic and Please Molly can you set the buzz going It will give the Serving chefs another avenue And it really dosent matter if you have only done a minimum stretch the same rules apply .I dont know what resettlement seminars the Navy run but mine 16 years ago didn't leave me well prepared to meet the challenges of of civilian life.
As always i will be guided by your comments and if any one has any ideas on this im all ears Regards Quinny
