Most input from other forums suggests that it is being issued alphabetically, so being a W i won't be rushing my application in.

G'day All....
I have just applied for this medal.
I did however read ( In the Instructions ) that " Applications will be Processed in order of receipt. Extra processing time will happen only if the Application doesn't, have attached ' Verified ' copies of the mentioned Documents "
Which would be the Certificate of Discharge, signed by a JP etc .
I'm Happy to be here ! And would like to Thank Cliff for setting it up for us.

G'day All !
Glad to be Back On Board ! After being Adrift for a while.....
Just thought I'd start off by saying it was the 5th of June 2006 that I applied for this here medal.
It was 18th September 2006 that I got a letter from the DOD ( Ms Irene Wilson herself ! ) acknowledging receipt of said letter.
It said Applications are being assessed in order of receipt !
So, I'll report here next time when I get it . Providing I am eligible ?

I didnt go and get all that other stuff they ask for and I received my medals within in 8 weeks
hope that might help others
They have more info on you than you think
Name : Official No : Date joined and Date of discharge is really all that I supplied

Yeah I applied for mine in late december and will wait for a reply, I know they dont issue them alphabetically.
I opted to get mine presented by the local member so that will take a bit longer regards quinny .

I originally put in for mine without copies of Service Certificate when it was first mentioned then someone mentioned not to send them for the time being until word was sent out that we could.
I eventually sent in another application with copies of S/C and got it not long after. Mind you I did ask for it to be presented by local member but got a note in the mail box to go to the local post office.....then the postman got it wrong and had it down as my son as I was still getting mail redirected from my old residence.
I never at any time had confirmation that they got for application.
Now I am waiting for my Cadet Long Service Medal, wonder if it will be sent the same way
Cheers
Jude

Yes jude this sending medals through the mail goes against everything i believe in Medals by their very nature are a thing to be treasured and worn with pride when the occasion arises .
To have them sent through the mail to me demeans the purpose of receiving an award or decoration.
At the very least you should have approached your sitting member and say these medals mean something to all those that applied and was eligible to receive them and to have them sent through the mail like a competition prize is downright unaustralian, so i urge all those that are eligible to front up and see their local member and vent your feelings on this matter.
You can bet london to brick that if the pollies were to receive a gong then there would be a song and dance Greg Kelson a ex Birdie Chief had his presented by KIM BEASLEY as he was his local member in the west.
I would make an approach to my local member and believe you me if i get mine in the mail then you'll hear me up in Townsville keep well love and lets know how you get on.
Regards Quinny

Some medals have their own application form, however the first form on the list (Form AC694) will cover most applications.

Jeez that was quick Geoff, I think mine took about the best part of 8 months. I thought it was because my surname starts with a W - always last in line for about anything alphabetically (including payday when we had to line up). (4)

Medals and Certificate of Service Hi Guys,
My ADM took about the same time as Geoffs. I applied and before I knew it ,it was here. One other thing. Now we have these extra gongs, we now are entitled for an updated COS. To receive this all you have to do is request an updated COS from Personall Records stating your name, discharge rank, what Medals you have received since leaving the Service and your Official Number. All this info can be faxed on 02 6266 5851. Takes about 6/8 weeks because of the back log!!!
All the best

Do you qualify if you snotted in a Subby"?, or stole a crest from the pongo base in Townsville?, or told the XO on Derwent '74 he was a frickin' nutcase?....or was caught with a lady friend in the 4.5" Turret?
Stuff it I'll try anyway.....

I applied mid '05 and received it in post early '06. From what I understand you had to have served a minimum of 4 years.

Hi Rustic,
If you didn't get busted for all that you deserve a medal.
