Hey Guys, Incase the breath testing isn't bad enough, you have to pass a fitnes test once a year. I bullshitted my way through for the past 4 years, but earlier on I struggled when I needed it for promotion to PO. No fitnes pass on the fitness test, no promotion. If you can't get your weight down and pass the test, you are as good as history. One of our mates serving now is having trouble and his career looks to be coming to a halt. Great bloke, top chef and has done shit loads of sea time. Unfortunatley the heirachy these days don't give a shit what you have done. Continually fail the test and be overweight and you're history. Possibly just another reason why the boys don't run as hard these days. Myself included. Regards, Molly

Geez Molly, I remember when they brought something similar in during the 70's. It was called a 'PEP Test' and it was easy enough to pass - all you had to do was bribe the SBA's - and you passed. A few Lamingtons etc in the weeks leading up to your test was all that was needed. I'm glad I never did one (came close a couple of times) especially at WATSON where part of the test was a run up the big hill to Diamond Head (I think it was called). I think part of the reason it was introduced was an attempt to reduce the size of some, especially after HMAS ARROW went down in Cyclone Tracy and 2 crew members could'nt escape in time. I heard of a few blokes who got caught out and had to leave Pussers.

Can anyone tell me WHAT happened to the White Ensign Club , in the Exhibition Buildings in Melbourne ???? I went there after the Caloundra Reunion,had 2 weeks in Melbourne , and all I could find was one part of the Old Exhibition Buildings . It seems to me that the New Melbourne Museum sits in its place . Can anyone enlighten me ???? The Reunion was great and make sure you all come to Perth in 2010 .

Yeah , you're right Les . The old Screamers is underneath the new museum . Some people have no respect for history !! Sundays will never be the same again , just close your eyes and sing a quick chorus of "Running Bear", then do Dead Ants at the end!!!!
