I will tell you this for sure You wont have to get dressed up in your sixes and go on the uppers to do leaving harbour and no action stations in the guts watch .And one tip when your leaving New Zealand Please turn the lights off.And those Kiwis don't taste good when roasted over an open fire Make sure you pluck them first . All bullshitting aside have a good trip And i will expect a good update when you return .Bon Voyage smitty .

Mate, themissus and I did a P&O cruise for our honeymoon last year and we can't wait to go again. It is by far the best holiday I have ever had. You can do as much or as little as you like. They have trivia comps, photography classes, live shows & movies. There was another couple n ou cruise who stayed in their cabin the whole time, got their meals delivered to them and just watched movies on their cabin TV and....well, whatever else they dd :-) The missus and I are going again in about 3 years. Some quick bits of advice though. A/ get to the terminal EARLY!!!!! Customs clearance takes almost 2 hours and the line is huuuuuuuuuuge! B/ don't use the elevators on the ship, walk everywhere. YOU WILL PUT ON WEIGHT! the food is fantastic and plentiful. C/ make sure you don't get caught perving on the bikini clad young ladies on the ship. I did and got a day of silence (not always a bad thing). Our staff were excellent, the acommodation was good and the food....oh baby! if you need any other advce please email me on quagmire01@netspace.net.au

D'oh! Sorry Erica! I should have twigged when she said, "I'm travelling with my mum". Not too many blokes would take mum! Also, they did a galley tour on our cruise. They no longer do bridge or engine room tours but the galley tour was ver interesting. Moresby was the largest ship I served in and she didn't have a huge galley, the one on our ship was incredible. the meals are fantastic and I had everything from bacon & eggs to escargot. I kept a memu from eac night as a keep sake. We did buffet breakfast & lunch and then formal dinner. Erica, also if you can sit on alarge table at dinner. we had a table of 10 with the other 8 being retirees who had done cruises before. We had the best time with these couples and they were a great source of info and advice. We still write to them now and we are all hoping to do the same cruise again in 3 years.

Yeah, I definately have egg on my face. But hey, I'm sure the egg will be properly cooked! Erica, we were on the Pacific Sun. As you know, the meals and entertainment are covered in your cruise ticket but if you want the meal delivered to your cabin it is $3. The pizza bar and steak house are extra. There is also a New Zealand Ice Cream shop on each cruise ship. Probably redundant given where you are going :-) The ships also have a radio station which is played via your cabin TV. One chanel has a "bridge cam" which is mounted above the bridge and they play music over the chanel while you lay in bed lazily watching the ship sail along. Man do I want to go on another cruise!

Smiddy- 08-26-2008

We have paid for most of the cruise now and we await our boats arrival on the 29th of November. I'm taking my laptop with me so you might get a letter via this forum if I'm not too busy walking around, stuffing my face or what ever I get up to. good tip on checking in you'd think a big chip would have it sorted so people don't have to wait 2 hours. We'll probably be taking the stairs mum and I lifts are for grannys who can't be arsed walking or for people with wheel chairs.

Hope you enjoy it. We went on the Pacific Sun and in the library they have computers wth satelitte style internet connection so you can check emails & visit this site while you are out there. The computers also hve USB ports so you can put pics with your emails. The customs line is, unfortunately, a neccessary evil. When you get back they will give you a coloured pass and those who have connecting flights etc will disembark first and those who live locally will leave last. It is actually quite a good system. Enjoy the food, enjoy the sun and enjoy the entertainment. I can't wait for our next cruise, we are going to do the one that leaves from Brisbane and goes up to Cairns, out to Willis Island and then back to Brisbane. Let us know how you go!

We have paid for out flights to Brissie. Also paid of our cruise fares, ect. I have to buy some new clothes I don't think my current wardrobe will go the distance. I'm off to Melbourne soon for the fine food and wine hospitality trade fare. Also it include a wine and spirits part. I'm staying in the city. I haven't been to Melbourne for yonks and I'm really looking forward to it.
