Photograph Albatross Cooks 30+ years ago

I found this photo of L/Ck Jock Chaplan in a 1959 issue of 'The NAVY'. (put out by the Navy League). The entire issue was themed around HMAS Vampire. Jock is also the Supply Officer in the header photo of the forum (also shown at the start of this thread)

Here is one sent in by Les De Bonde from 1962. From your L to R :- Les De Bonde, John McColm and Dennis Younger.

(Les would like to know the whereabouts of John & Dennis if anybody can help)

A question?? Why are all the WRAN Cooks wearing dreses rather that long trousers??

I don't think any Wrans, no matter what branch, wore trousers in those days. Same thing for the Army and RAAF ladies. I think the first time I saw a Wran wearing trousers was at WATSON in about '79. Those horrible (in my opinion) checkered pattern Cooks daks. :smile:

Hello Cliff Just wanted to give you some information concerning the group photo taken outside the galley at the Tross. The surname of Pete is Collins and his wife at the time (no longer together) Cindy Collins (Cassebohm). How do I know this you ask? I am the ex WRCK Collins. The photo would have been taken second half of 1973 as I had short hair by then and I was discharged in April 1974 so I have a feeling it was in August of 1973. The things you find while surfing the net!!!! But reading all the input has sure brought back some great memories Cheers Cynthia (Cindy)

Thanks for that Cindy, I just could'nt think of the last name. I remember you well, I think from memory that Pete went to the Docky Coppers as a Dog Handler. Your picture is in the 2nd 'Tross photo peeking over Rick Hinefellars shoulder. :smile: Your dates would be very accurate, thanks for that. How have you been doing anyway? :grin:
