Lindsay, Here is something to have a look at :- http://maingalley.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=360 And http://maingalley.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=92 The majority are ex serving and serving Pussers Cooks. Paul is here because I asked him to join the forum to be a PC advisor and an Administrator. I have known Paul around the Forum traps for a few years now and the Forum would'nt have survived without him. I know both Mal (ex CPO Greenie) and Windy (ex Beagle and ex US Army) personally and both of them have been through the mill and are top hands to boot. I asked them to join. Both of them tell me that they enjoy reading some of the banter here and Mal especially has been very helpful locating people for me. (on behalf of others). Apart from Coral and Judy who are both ex scribes, I think you could count the other rates on one hand. Most of the ex Cooks have no interest in PC's except to read what's been happening and I am happy with that. We, as a group, in the flesh, can talk underwater and we have done so very profusely to each other at the last reunion. Most of the Cooks I have met know that there is a Forum, but many, many, many are not connected yet, nor have they any interest in getting connected to the pc world. There are a few forums around, mostly being 'All Rates' or 'All Service', but as I have said before, we are doing alright for a branch specific forum. We have a good list of regular contributors compared to other forums including some with over a thousand members. (and if you have a look at these forums, you will find that they have only a couple of handfuls of regular contributors - some with over a thousand members have only 4 or 5 contributors in the forum. The main purpose of this forum is to pass the word about our reunions (with much help from Errol), and to foster goodwill amongst us. At the last reunion, bygones were bygones and everybody got on. Hundreds and hundreds of us and no bad blood to be seen anywhere.

Just a little to add to the above :- I have'nt been able to access the Plot since last year (although i am still listed as a member)

lindsay i don't know where you are going with this. as cliff said this a cooks website set up by some dedicated ex cooks to have a contact and info system for each other. we do things our way and not all cooks are interested in the website . but i'm sure they pass on imformation and updates via other means . maybe you should start a writers website

I have to agree with the other cooks on this Lindsay, this site is a great site for just catching up with old mates, listening to bad yarns and just reminiscing about times gone by, and find out who going to the next reunion, more people are joining all the time, some of us are just abit slow getting our gear together. see you at the reunion.

I'm more than happy with just the amount of people that read what i write Just look at the hits that some topics generate . Kieth Holmes an ex cook from the 60s gave me a ring and i will meet him on Monday and he has been on the site for a while now he has only one submit to his name but he is a regular reader . It took me years to get on this computer we had it 5 years before i learnt to turn it on And there are plenty of cooks out there that are not interested and we must respect that. Very early in the piece i became a tad frustrated by the lack of people reading and not posting I have made a few posts on this But i just accept the norm now its the same on all sites . I try by my posts to keep the site fresh and run the odd sweep and have a footy comp running all these things help i have 11 on the AFL comp and this is good and no doubt will increase as time goes by . Putting the odd photo up is always a help and generates a lot of interest .we have enough contributers to the site we could do with more but slowly slowly does it..I do a lot of PM off this site and so do others so thats posts you wont see. Keep well all regards Quinny

think about it....
Most chefs who are still chefs are too busy working only the older chefs who have enough time off come onto this website. I know being a young chef myself I can pull a 6 day week and can't be arsed comming online. You must have a public servent job and sit on your but all day... I am having some time off to come to the reunion it will be the longest holiday I've had in a while. another thing some chefs actually have to quit a job to take a holiday because they are usually running it and can't get away for holidays. I've been there donne that.
