Real Mates
I served with such great characters in my time in pussers '73 '85. I was a quiet little cookie a bit screwed up from a not so good childhood (a lot of abuse), pussers in the end was a family to me, it helped me i guess to trust people, like mates should.Noel hillier although he would not know this, took me under his wing once, I will never ever forget that,to this day I do not know why he helped me believe in myself, sure did drink a lot of piss and have bloody good times, thanks Noel for the things you do not even know you did

I agree
Although I left the Navy on a bad note  I still have good memories. I had some good friends  in there shame I didn't keep in contact with them. I' don't think it is possible to keep up with everyone you work with one day you may end up working with them again. As soon as I look back on those photos that I took at the time I just laugh to myself and it makes me want to show other people what a good time I had. 8) I think I have used enough icons.

I was still an Ord Cook in those days, dont think it broke but we were lucky and yes that mini used to fly .Catch you at the reunion last time i busted ya chops was in 1972 so a lot of water under the bridge since then but i remember you and good to see you on site . And it wasn't just because they let me have seconds on request, or let me have bacon & egg sangers out in the fleet, it was because I knew how important you blokes were in the context of moral and sanity. Had a Cook oppo in Cerberus, he ran a red XU-1 by the name of Tank. This would be say mid '72 and the bloke was a big fella built like a brick shithouse wall. We used to play footy down in Cerb, one match I accidentally gave him a coathanger as I was sweeping my arm to get the ball. He lowered himself down to also get at the pill, but headbutted my arm instead. Rather than playing on, I quickly went over to see how he was. Cracked him across the schnoz and claret went everywhere. I stayed there despite our coach insisting I get back in the game. Anyway, although I was too young to go in the wets that year, after the game he got a few gashies of Fosters think it was and we had a few. He reckons it was his fault and I thought it was mine, but me realizing it was him who had the guts to go in for the ball knowing full well the clash would come. We kept in touch for about 3 years after that, and I have a sickly feeling he came to greif around '74 because he invested in a Ducati and rode like there was no tomorrow. Had he still been alive, I am 100% certain he would have kept in touch. He came home here to Adelaide to meet my folks, along with a couple of other pussers, and fell for my little sister. Never had a problem with their relationship, never at any stage warding him off sis. Now that's friendship, and trust! So Tank, wherever you are?....I remember mate.
