REVIEW NATURE OF SERVICE HMAS CANBERRA OP DAMASK 6
Hello all you pussers cooks I contacted ptsd after my service in the Navy I served on HMAS CANBERRA during operation DAMASK 6 92-93 where the ship played a crucial role in the involvement in a Tomahawk launch on Bagdad 17/1/93. Still today the government has not recognised our involvment as warlike this leaving myself and the crew a question what was it? murder? terrorism? or just a way to save money. I've been lobbying this for the last 5 years and they even sent me to jail to try and shut me up sorry did'nt work . On the 11th Sept i received a letter from Bruce Billson stating that this is being reviewed so hopefully we will have an outcome soon. Scotty Miles ex ABCK

Scotty you still got to keep banging away at it and try not to lose focus at what you are trying to achieve for yourself and your fellow shipmates. When is a war a war and not just a conflict. Keep lobbying your local members and keep writing you will not get any definitive answers to your questions, Everyonei s covering their own arse and no one wants to take the wrap. It's disappointing that you were jailed for your beliefs . A lot have been wronged over the years and a lot of the stuff that went on in the Navy is just coming to light. Now finally the Voyager and Melbourne sailors who were involved in this disaster have been recognised - look how long that has taken. Patience being the operative word here mate. Be careful when you open the pandoras box , good luck and I'm sure in the long run it will work out .

Onya Scotty, Quinny has offered some wise words, stay focussed, keep cool. I was also involved in an incident, back around 1975 but in my case will no way deemed to be a conflict, we were actually told to hush it up because the Govt of the day simply wanted to appease our northern neighbours??? Read into that paragraph anything you like, I know what happened, so did my wharf sentry oppo, the QM and Bosuns Mate and the OOD at the time we were tied up. No way would the incident would have remained in the logbook. Difference between your involvement and mine is, I wouldn't really know where to start?....but in your case it's bleeding obvious you were well and truly in, where shit hit the fan.

Well hello all you beautiful people, well I've been told it's on the PRIME MINISTERS deck so we will see what happens, but it sounds positive??????. What a fight?, I hope i never have to do this again, FIGHTING THE GOVERNMENT. It's just damn hard and getting my head F..... I thought PTSD was bad enough, so life's a bit of a nightmare at the moment .... as they've already shown me another act of bastardization, jailing me over this matter, thankyou MR LINSAY you're a great REP for the veteran Community and you're the Federal Member of the biggest garrison city in Australia - Townsville, so where does 'Duty of Care' stop and finish when you leave the Navy?. Must be well sorry for sounding so negative, but I wonder what they're going to do to me HOW?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? HOPE TO MEET MANY OF YOU AT THE REUNION IF I NOT IN JAIL

Rome wasn't built in a day.The people like yourself are many and the government drags their feet on so many of these issues and the more you chase the more frustrated you can become. Deep down the government wants you to pack up ya shovel and bucket and go home .You've got to hang in there now with the change of government you may get a more positive outcome time will tell, its easy to get negative when you're frustrated. A bloke once said to me that we have, freedom of speech here in Australia, but no guarantee of freedom after the speech. Keep fighting, I for one would love to hear the outcome. Regards quinnny

well it was great to hear that the defence department has launch a review on mental health last saturday this is part of the submissions i have made to them as ive been a victum of there lack of duty of care and im sick of hearing about ex servicemen are not having there problems addressed before being discharged this is a major reveiw and it will benefit lots of victums of ptsd well lets just hope things change also ptsd is not a weakest its an illness so if anyone wants to despute that with me your welcome and you will soon discover that im a very strong indiviual body and mind well to all the guys on canberra during operation damask 6 its not going to be long till that special day we should of had 15 years ago will given to us please past the word if your having problem please seek help its out there and you will not be judged for it your problems you may have are all nature responces to the life we have lived also remember they say that an army marches on it stomach well what does a cook march on????????????????????????????????? i think he fellow mates in that special branch the cookery branch well till i have more news sweet dreams good sex and happy living scotty

well hello all you cooks out there hope you had a great easter well at present im in a clinic on the gold coast chilling out as all this fighting is taking its toll on me. so its healther being in here then out there drinking piss, taking drugs and runnig a muck well reading this weekends australian they have released information about what was happening in the middle east around the time i was on canberra so maybe the attack on bagdad was a retaleation on the killing of major stuart cameron on the 7/1/93 and the attack on 17/1/93 was a justified :rolled action i dontt no its all just getting my head in and i hope that the government releases something soon well sweet dreams scotty
