Talking of old mates
Was at my daughters god parents place during the week. Her god father is ex ABCK Steve Watkins (Brisbane, Vampire, Albatross, just to name a few). He was in from the 60's through to early 70's. R65 number I think. He's doing well. Showed him our forum and hope he becomes involved. If any one here remembers him let me know and I'll pass on the hello's.

I remember Steve from the 'Tross - if it's the same bloke i am thinking of, he had a white VW Beetle, which was a nice car and a bit of a goer for a VW. He was mates with Willie ????, another ABCK who had a white VW Beetle. (also a nice car for a Beetle). They used to race each other a bit on the way up to Sydney on weekends. (They were always caught by cooks with proper cars at Kiama Bends, I think the big hill slowed the VW's a bit). Give him my regards anyway

aye
thats him Cliff. I'll pass on your regards. He was still good mates with Willie but in the late 80's, I think, Willie needed a heart transplant and sadly passed away. I only met Willie on a couple of occations. I think he paid off with a hook. Steve is retired now and is involved in drag racing, Super Charged Outlaws with other family members. The team will be racing in the east coast nationals at eastern creek very soon. Hope to get the kids to it. Get a bit of Nitro in the face. He seemed pretty keen on going to the reunion next year.

Snelly, If you go to the second Albatross Cooks photo, you will see some of us how we really looked most of the time. Willie is in that photo. Looking at the photo he is sitting at the far left. (of those sitting). My mate Pig West is sitting next to him with POCK Montgomery (Monty)sitting at the other end. You might want to print it out and show Steve - he would know a few of them in that photo.

cheers Cliff. I'll get it to him and see who he remembers.

old mates from school
Its nothing to do with the Navy but I went to my 10th year out of school reunion. I was surprised by the people who were there since some of the guys didn't go to the senior formal because they were too naughty. Some were saying to me that they should have paid more attention to me at school because I am seriously cool now. I just figured everyone of us are adults now and we are here to meet up and have some fun everyone enjoyed the fact that we could get drunk and smoke on the school grounds. The band that was playing was a hit with evryone and most of the crowd I was with stayed right until the end. I love hearing about the amount of people from my grade that joined the defence force I knew it was a good idea I was just one of the people who jumped in first and the others are now following.
