The tattoo'd sailor
Like many from my era I got a few tatt's forarms etc. I never really regretted gettin' them and have never made any excuses for them , as a matter of fact they have been a great conversation piece, there were many stories of how i come to get them that have amused many a civvie over time, love to amuse them with bullshit and wonders of my travels most extended the truth Dave

Rastus Meehan and I got our hinges at the same time from 'Painless Chater' in Sydney. I went first no worries, then Rastus got his and a few days later he had to front up at the sickbay to sort out his infected tatts. help

Did you know????
Bluey Hackett was my Kelick Chef at Cerberus in 2000-2001. He was the toughest chef I ever knew and he tattoos all over his body even his eye lids which had FTW on them. He reckons he had one ball bag and the other was tattoed. He was also good at cake decorating and did the commissioning cake for the Warramunga. Cool.

wHAT WAS THAT BIKE RASTUS HAD DOWN THE TROSS WAS IT A TUMPY (TRIUMPH)

CliffWhatley- 11-04-2006

I can't remember if Rastus had a bike or not - the only Triumph I remember was one that Ben Dwyer bought. (a 650 or 750, can't remember which?) I rode it back to Albatross from Woolongong or Port Kembla for Ben (Ben was a bit of a beginner) A few days later Ben is off duty with his new found bike riding skills and shows up at the rear entrance to the galley with his bike, everyone is looking at it - gee whiz, wow etc. Ben cranks the kickstart and the Trumpet roars to life as only a Triumph can.(ok a Norton or BSA roars to life as well) Ben says bye to all looking very much a very cool dude on his Trumpet, and rides straight into the brick wall near the refrigerated gash bin room. After checking that Ben was ok we pissed ourselves laughing and Ben took it all in good humour too. Lost contact with Ben after leaving the 'Tross/CAG - he was a good hand.

G'day Wayne Roderick Quinn where did you knock the computer off from as you would have never paid for one, it's good to see your're well and alive. Speaking of Rastus where is he living and what's he doing for a crust. I recall Rastus had another bike but I forgoet what he called her. By the way I have noticed that the Navy have brought alot more ships since you paid off, seems they don't have the same size food bill anymore. You were the KING of RABBITTERS. will catch you up soon Quinny, Cheers Bomber. Hearty Good Wish's

Noel Hillier- 11-07-2006

Hi All. Talking about rabbit kings the best I ever came across were the ( plate lickers)Senior sailors STD at Penguin they would take everthing and we had to knock stuff off the main galley on the weekends to feed the officers everthing had to be bolted down. Regards Noel H

Rabbit Merchants
Jack Steyne was another good one at getting the odd rabbitt ashore, I am sure him and quinny had a contest to see who could get the most. By now quinny would be just about out of meat and will now have to put his hand in his pocket, welcome to the real world quinny. I was such an angel and never done any of that sort of thing, not that I can remember anyhow, but then again I have killed a few brain cells.
