The worst tattoo you saw in Pussers
I never got a Tattoo in Pussers but I saw some shockers! Who remembers Cook Cooper, he had a fish tattoed on his - - - - for girls who did not eat meat on Friday and what about Lofty Coombs with his cooks rating tattoed on his right arm. Memories!

a cook came back from up top with a pig up a pig with making bacon written underneath :!: he got it from pinkys in honkers i think, another had train carriages running down his back and the engine was going into a tunnel tattooed around his arse and smoke coming out of it. :lol: .. i have been in the tattoo industry for the last 20 years and have seen some weird and wonderfull work. my oldest son don johnson is one of the best Tattooist in Australia at the present time . regards Johnno

Dunno about ugliest , but certainly 'Dummest " Along side in Honkers , Xmas 68. Morning dhoby in the showers , ABStd along side of me shaving at the sinks has obviously had a big night ashore and has a fresh Pinky's special on his shoulder blade , all hearts and flowers , as only Pinky could do . " Mornin' Mate ", says I , " Nice tat . So who's Sue?" "Me sister in law ", says he . " How do you know that ? " "MMaaattte ,you're in deep shit , check out your shoulder ." There it was for ever more "Love of my Life , Sue " ........Trouble was , his wifes name was Linda!!!!! By the time we got back to Oz , the tatt had turned really wierd , still lots of hearts and flowers , with a big black sub in the middle , but at least it saved his skin . A couple of years later , that same Beagle volunteered for subs and went to the UK . Just to justify the tatt .

This ones easy for me, was 3 Echo Mess HMAS Derwent around '74. A young OD Strawbridge went ashore boasting he was going to get a big eagle tatt on his chest....errr ok! Anyway, steps ashore, comes back later that evening with all of us running up to see how he went. He did have signs of bleeding on his flannel, and then it came off, only to reveal not an eagle, but a little frickin' Tweaty Bird the size of a 20 cent piece??? Sheesh!!!

Funny thing Paul , my story also happened on Derwent . You might help me here as the Alzies has set in . The cooks and stewards mess was 3 delta or charlie ? The ladder down was near the canteen , the canteen store was beneath us . It was a 'horse shoe ' mess because the 4.5 was right above and the magazine lift ran up through the middle of the mess . Yeah , I know "Off Subject" , but us old farts like to get things right !! The name 'Stawbridge' seems to ring a bell too !

Eagles
Good dit Berky, Reminded me of a cook I knew who went to get the big eagle on the chest. It took hours as he had to keep stopping because of the pain. To this day all he has is an outline of an eagle! He could not bear to get it coloured in.

Worst Tatt
Speaking of the one and only SE Strawbridge, he still owes me several beers for going along with him and having his name accepted for Longlook (4 months exchange in the UK). I clearly recall that he said send me to the UK and put the Pommie in my chair in Sydney (some birdy job to do with Safety) and I will look after you Lindsay, Yeah right come in sucker!!

Lindsay, Just spoke to my little SE man and he remembers that conversation as well, he says he'd gladly buy you those beers. However Shakey can do you a stand in if you want as they have a beer most nights whilst staying at Kuttabul. By the way he loved that posting to the UK. !!
