After commencing work with the State Government in January 1981, I have decided to retire .

I will be handing in my notice tomorrow or within the next few days at least.

I spent until April 1986 with the Prisons Department and from April 1986 as a Transport Inspector specializing in Heavy Haulage over the last few years. ie - most of those Monster Mobile Cranes, Drilling Rigs, Concrete Pumps etc that you may see on the road in QLD are my fault.

The circumstances surrounding my retirement are not really of my choosing, however I am looking forward to it.

Regards Cliff

Good Luck Cliff, You have been pretty stressed lately and I hope you are able to spend more quality time with your family. When I got retrenched in 2006 I thought what the bloody hell do I do now. Well mate I haven't stopped since and the days just pass quickly. There is never a boring day and I have never been so happy to be out of the workforce. Now I worry about what the future holds the kids and grandkids.

Best of luck Cliff, sit back, take a deep breath and smile.

You'll be alright Cliff . Just a clue , look around for a totally non-stress part -time job , like my school maintenance / handman job . Absolutely love it , nothing like being a legend and Mr Fix-it to 200 kids !!
Although , my ex- pussers greenie Bro , reckons the scariest thing he has ever seen is a chef with screw driver in hand .
They are out there Mate , nice little part time jobs for some-one with life experience and a bit of CDF.

Yes good advice Jaffa No doubt keeping your self occupied is the trick to staying sane in Retirement .Plenty of stress free voluntary jobs to do that are good for your morale and getting out of your mrs hair . I too wish you all the best mate in your retirement .A lot of us retirees are busier now than whenever we we working.

Best of luck. There are loads of part time jobs out there if you want one. You could always do consulting of some kind.
Every town is always looking for chefs. Pubs are cool to work at.
